For example, a week for a family of four at a one of our typical cottages on a farm - in this case a converted barn with 2 bedrooms, modern cooking facilities, a beautifully landscaped private terrace, pool privileges, mountain bikes and more -  is less than $1000 per week.  Located near Siena, this particular lodging is within walking distance of Casole d'Elsa, one of Italy's most picturesque hill towns.  

Imagine your day begins with a leisurely stroll into town to pick up just-baked rolls or fruit for breakfast. Perhaps you'll visit the charming Children's Museum in Casole or chat with the local grocer at his alimentari as you select fresh local provisions for your evening meal.

Mountain bike into the gorgeous countryside and return for a refreshing dip in the pool.  

In the magical Tuscan twilight, it's a short drive to Siena where you can relax at a cafe on the edge of the Campo (site of Siena's famous Palio) with an espresso or a glass of chilled prosecco.
